I run 9 TF2 servers on Server 2008 R2 and all of them climb to (and perhaps continue climbing) to around 1.2GB. We have replay and sourcetv disabled.
The usual thursday updates gives us a chance to restart our instances and get the memory back. We've personally ruled out all of our SM plugins. If a plugin contains too many handle leaks, sourcemod will eventually reload the plugin and output to a sourcemod_fatal.log file. Additionally you can try the sm_dump_handles command to have a server output what plugins have allocated what memory. That said, I've fixed most of our plugins that introduced handle leaks (things like sourceirc, saxtonhale, and freakfortress to name a few), and our srcds instances are still using an absurd amount of memory. The last possible case is SM extensions. Poorly written extensions could entirely be the cause of some memory leaks. I know, in one instance, that the SteamTools extension contains a few memory leaks that might be what's causing our issues. I don't believe TF2 itself is the cause since not everyone experiences these leaks.
