My community does this as well and it supports it 100% off of Pinion. Pinion is actually now starting a game hosting company that runs ads on your MOTD, and you only pay if the ads don't make enough. Even then, you just pay the difference. It's an ingenious idea, but it's off topic, so let's not get into that one right now.
