Everyone, Today, starting in an hour (1pm EST), we're going to be launching a free weekend for Killing Floor 2 in support of our recently released "Return of the Patriarch" content pack. I'm here to request the help of the server hosting community to meet the peak demand we're likely to see from the free weekend. Right now we have about half of the servers we think we'll need to meet the demand. So anyone that could pop up some servers for the weekend would be greatly appreciated. The servers for KF2 are 6 players and are really light on CPU and bandwidth usage, so they can run on a really wide range of hardware.
Also, one thing worth mentioning is a new bit of functionality we recently added to our servers which will help you be able to advertise your gaming community or GSP is a server welcome screen. This displays when players connect to a server, and has a customizable message of the day text message, a banner image, and a website link. So now if you put up servers for a free weekend (or any time for that matter) you can basically put an ad in that all players that connect to that server can see, and a web link that you can put in that they can click on that will take them directly to where you want them to go to find out more about your gaming community or GSP. Here is info on how to set it up: 1) Make sure the game server isn't running 2) Edit PCServer-KFGame.ini: Find this part and edit it, here is the default one Code: BannerLink=http://art.tripwirecdn.com/TestItemIcons/MOTDServer.png ServerMOTD=Welcome to our server. \n \n Have fun and good luck! WebsiteLink=http://killingfloor2.com/ 3) BannerLink should be a PNG (save it > 8bit) image 4) ServerMOTD is the message display under the BannerLink image. You can usesome "*\n*" to create a new line like in the default message, I personally add two lines before my MOTD message to add space between image and text 5) WebsiteLink is the url of your website (if you edit this from the webadmin, it resets to a blank value after saving) 6) Save, start the server, enjoy you welcome screen. If it does not show up ingame, you're doing it wrong. Thanks everyone! P.S. We know more of you would put up servers if we had linux servers. It's on the list of things we want to do.
