My understanding on this point was that since CD hooks the client in the same way that the cheats do, it would be detected as a cheat by VAC. On the other hand, I never saw a reason why it couldn't still be used on servers with VAC disabled. I'd happily ditch VAC in favour of CD on my CS servers.. CD worked better than any anti-cheat system I've ever used..
