Ok, didn't know that ..

Guess it explains why it was usable..

2 12's is ALOT less cpu usage then a 32. You cant
look at it like 24 compaired to 32. 2 12's is alot
easier to run then a 24.

I must admit I only ran it for a couple of hours,
none of the gamers
complained about lag or anything..

But to be honest I would never recommend using one
full time..

Good luck with that one. My experience with

internet servers is, that all celerons are not

usable for (hlds/srcds) gameservers due to the lack

of cache.

I ran a 16 slot 1.6 CS a year ago with AMX as

plugin -> didn't work fully loaded... :(

It may work without any kind of plugins.

My first post :) Been lurking for a while and

thought I may be able to

help out on this one...

I run LAN Parties and for a laugh, I had 2 12 seat

servers running on an

old IBM Celron P366 and guess what...

It managed it without too many probs .. I was

VERY surprised, it was

maxed out CPU wise but it did run it..

The system is running FC3 2.6.10-1.770_FC3

My vote is no. Not enough cpu for a 32 player.

Quick question, I know some people on here run

stuff

on celerons so here
goes..

Dell Celeron 2.0GHz
Fedora Linux Core 2
512 MB Ram
1 x 40 GB IDE Drive
1 x 40 GB IDE FREE! Drive

Would a 32 player source server run ok on that?

It

runs 1 map
(trenchwarfare) and its premium bandwidth so

that

isnt a concern.
(NTT/Verio)

Im just wondering how it would perform. I know

the

cpu speed is fine, the
main limiting factor to the celeron is the

cache.

Anyone run a source server
on a celeron server yet? And if so how many

slots

and what kind of
performance?
