What do you think VALVe needs to pay to host the servers themself instead of us? And besides that, im not 100% against ads in a server, but dont bloody go treadning lawsuites when we want to put up some ads to cover the server costs, and later do it yourself, and running away with all the money. For us hosting the servers is a hobby. For some a business. But i dont feel that some one els should earn shitloads of money over my hard work to keep these things up and running, and keep them populair with new plugins and such. And before you go bitchin "they do all the coding", i've done a fair piece myself too to serve the CS community with tools, support 'n shit.
