There is no reason to ever have you're cl_updaterate or cl_cmdrate set to
100 or 101 for playing on the Internet.   Whoever is telling you that simply
does not know how to configure client/server side settings.

For all Internet based half life one mods, All you need is the following
settings to run perfectly.

Rate 25000  <<<  this is the max (for Internet) and don't let anyone tell
you any differently.   If you don't believe me then go to the steam support
web site and see for yourself.

Cl_updaterate 50   << best for client playing on the Internet.

Cl_cmdrate 60      << best for client playing on the Internet.


I have been running servers for 4 years now and have tested these settings
and all possible server side settings and have found them to be the best.

I run my servers at 566 sys_ticrate with sv_maxrate 25000,  sv_minrate at
10000, sv_maxupdaterate 50, sv_minupdaterate 40

My servers perform flawlessly with instant hit registration for all clients.

With no choke or loss for anyone.


YOU MUST REMEMBER THAT having you're cl_updaterate too high when the server
wont allow it or you're rate wont allow it will cause choke and loss.


Please for the love of god let this question be answered and done with for
all time.

Developer 1 DOESN'T makes you run slower. A lot of people think that, but
not really.
the MORE FPS you have the slower you run, and developer 1 unlock the 100 FPS
limit, so it gives you more fps (if you have fps_max higher than 100) :
that's why you run slower. It has nothing to do with developer, but just the
FPS. Between 100 and 90 FPS, 100 will makes you run slower than 90, and it
might be noticeable.
20,50,66,111 makes you shoot faster (like I said, the more FPS you have the
slower you run, it has nothing to do with those values).
