We're running 4 SRCDS instances off a paravirtualized 2.6.29-gentoo-r5 kernel on VMware ESX 3.5 -- works fine. You might need to upgrade to a recent kernel to get VMI working properly though! You can also assign CPU cores, just like under Xen.
