Chris, What I think would be handy is if it was off by default, but you could run a command on the master netconsole to en/disable it that tools can use.
Also, when I run my dedicated servers (forked) I'm still getting the children crashing a lot on startup but then settling down, and I also don't see my commands echoed to the console. As in I can type 'broadcast foo bar' but that never shows up, only its output. I have to type blind, which is rather error-prone.
