The issue isn't the ads - the issue is a change Valve did a few weeks ago. Since then I had to code my HTML docs that I have pulling up in the MOTD screen from within game cause the backgrounds turned gray instead of white as they were so I ended up redoing all of them with forcing background color code which was stupid but yeah it happened. The changes were in a patch by Valve which caused these issues plain and simple - again, nothing to do with ads or video playback in them.
This issue has gotten skewed and IMO has run its course - there is this issue that they should fix along with the stacking of models/effects, I shouldn't have to use a plugin to prevent that as posted here days ago, it should have been fixed by now. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of ics Sent: Thursday, September 13, 2012 12:31 PM To: Half-Life dedicated Linux server mailing list Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] HTML MOTDs not rendering? Just so you know, you originally said "How else would you suggest a server make money" and it sounded like you are trying to make money off with the server itself, not to pay server costs and similiar. Things like that raise issues with other people so choose your words more wisely next time. As for motd, sometimes it renders ok, sometimes not. There's nothing to be done with it except keep the motd tidy and not too compilicated. Images and text is fine, rest.. perhaps not. -ics 13.9.2012 19:20, Cameron Munroe kirjoitti: > I know that this wasn't the intent of this thread but it gets a little > annoying that every time is comes up we have an idiot who goes "Ads > are gross and you know what I don't care how servers try and survive, > they should just remove all perks and ads and die."
