Actually we need to be clear about that requirement. There are at least three cases I can imagine: 1. I want to control my washing machine remotely (although I won't be doing that until I have a very reliable dhobi-robot to load and unload it). 2. The manufacturer wants to update my washing machine remotely. 3. A benevolent 3rd party wants to control it remotely. I think you'll find each of these cases has different discovery, naming and security requirements.
