You could have some kind of magic name that identifies services, and has
PTR records with host names in it. If that's not enough, you could have
a magic "all current services" magic name, which would contain PTR
records (or something similar to data) pointing to the previous records
I mentioned.

-- After all, you typically want the list of services/services when you
want to do something (browse the net, play some music, etc.). That is,
that of having to ask shouldn't be a problem -- and, actually, may
probably scale easier/better than broadcasting stuff.
