I would play dynamics and let the sound engineer work out the issues. I've had
the pleasure of doing Sweeney a couple of times now, and since parts of the
book does have some very nice horn licks, worry about playing the licks
correctly and let the sound guy sort it out!

This past spring I did it with a sequencer (there were less than 10 live
musicians in the pit) and it wasn't a problem.

Hope this helps, break a leg!

I'm in a production of Sweeney Todd in which the entire orchestra is being
miked. The horn will have its own mike near the bell. Should I play dynamics
or is that taken out of my hands by an engineer?

Thanks,
Leslie
