The Wendell Hoss version has many significant deviations from the original 
Bach. My guess, after a fair amount of examination of different editions and 
listening to recordings, is that Hoss based his version on the suites as they 
were performed by Pablo Casals, for whom any music was an opportunity to 
express his own personal vision, rather than that of the composer. Not that 
there's anything wrong with that ;-)
