Bob -- I'm curious why you didn't suggest having the local repair simply unsolder and remove just the valve cluster. Smaller, and even less valuable. Couldn't the valve replacement and relapping be accomplished with just the unmounted cluster? (And isn't that how it is usually done?) I suppose a potential down side would be that the total repair would be performed in two places by two technicians who probably don't know one another.
