Well time for and old "war" story from Milton.

Many years ago when Mr Copland was conducting the Buffalo Phil.... as he did
very often.... and I think it was the
music from Rodeo..... he kept asking the horns to play louder and brasser at
the end.  I
finally asked him.... quite the upstart I was to be asking Mr Copland
anything..... "well Mr
Copland do you want it stopped or muted?  It would be louder muted!  And he
said!!!  Whats
the difference????  Dudddddddd.  He did not really know that for us horn
pickers the little +
meant stopped, and apprantley the did not know the difference between muted
and stopped.
He used the + to indicate "brassey".  That was the end of my
questioning period in life. :)

Really? When playing a double, I use both sides. Trigger+1st gives a great
stopped "A" above the staff. Just right for the end of Copland's "Rodeo."
Can't miss.

Also, need I mention which of reached up on the shelf and opened the can
labeled, "Smat*ss?" ...and which of us is getting prickly?

You're likely much more clever than you're writing, so let's place that can
back on the shelf. I asked who made the mute, and I got an answer from
someone who actually contributed.
