Hi All, I developed mutes for the vuvu some years ago. I found that some of the animal/bird mutes work pretty well. I developed a series of mutes utilizing stuffed Gulls. They were about the right size for vuvu bells and there was an ample supply as I was living in Los Angeles at the time. If I remember correctly, some of the models were as follows: "You Go Gull" - Developed specifically for some ethnic music. "C-Gull" - For use specifically on Beethoven's 5th Symphony. It didn't sell. As it turns out there are no muted notes in the 5th. Also, the vuvu was about 16 feet long and it took an extra person to insert and remove the mute. ..... the case for that horn was very expensive. "Vuu-Doo" - this is an accessory wet wipe that is used to clean out any Gull droppings that may have been left in the bell. "Vuvu-Booboo" - This mute filters out wrong notes. This had limited success as it was filtering out all the notes. I eventually abandoned the Gull mutes and tried using live cats. It took time to find a glue that would keep the corks secure on the cat. The first trials produced a rather unpleasant sound. Then I discovered that it worked better when I put the cat butt-first in the bell. The sound was much better and the cat seemed to enjoy it. .......... the cat still writes. I'm also working on an amplifier for practice mutes. The practice mute makes the sound difficult to hear so I figure a built-in amplifier will make it loud enough for people to hear. I hope it sells better than the air conditioned sauna and the sun powered flashlight (torch in the UK).
