It's certainly possible to play well without using the right hand. That's how I was taught as a beginner, and how most hornists played in Italy for many years (say until 20 years ago). While that school is now considered obsolete, it certainly produced competent professionals. There are recordings which witness that some of those hornists were good players even according to today's standards. Listening to today's young players, I'd rather that they often use too much of right hand... ;-) Daniel _______________________________________________ post: [email protected] unsubscribe or set options at https://pegasus.memphis.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/options/horn/archive%40jab.org
