OK...I just received my print samples! I had provided the HP sample makers 4 files. 4 RGb 1 CMYK. These were 300dpi, not 600 (600 might have increased smoothness).
I had them print these samples on both Satin, and Semi gloss(thin). I honest like them very much(not the semi gloss). they are good to very good.Color accuracy on Semi Gloss was very wrong, greenish cyan strong cast. The Semi gloss is thinner paper, and I noticed some banding in the blacks (could have been other issues?). So I am not going to get into details regarding SemiGloss, since it could have been a profile issue. Here are my findings on the RGB and CMYK output on Satin using the HP profiles for the specific paper Satin. Some of the shadow black areas are missing detail (very important) And the blacks have the slight cast of Cyanish green (very important) I also had a RGB Black & White image, and I was pretty happy about it , again the color cast. but detail and smoothness was nice on Satin. I was expecting less since I read low feedback in the black and white results. Maybe that was on matte paper. So my question to you is... Are these things that can be tweaked with the HP profile adjuster? (details in black, greenish color cast in black). I have samples of what I am referring to if anyone wants a look, or needs to see to better comment. Thank you all so far. If these 2 aspects of the printers ability to render can be fixed, I am keeping it. If it is a limitation of the 6 color setup, then I think the 4800, or even the 7800 is the answer. I think if someone is willing to take the file and print off a sample using a custom profile, I would be willing to provide a file. to send back. (I will cover costs).
