Print detail: Both 7800 and 130 meet this Color accuracy: Not yet for the 130 with my samples Dynamic range: I might be using this term incorrectly in print, but that is how camera sensors are sometimes gauged for resolving dark areas that reveal detail. Other factors I am sure I have not mentioned, but these are my major issues with the 130 output, and I am thinking they can be resolved with a RIP or custom profile. I have a image sample showing the differences if anyone cares to see it. Thanks Bob. And Dean, I kinda agree with you on your thinking. But I have to disagree with you when you compare companies. First off, I don't care what machine you chose to churn, a digital raster file that is multi platform doesn't care where it came from when you send it to print. So Mac vs PC is a discussion in some computer forum. But when it comes to a printer that is compared to another printer, and the compared result is against a original...this alone makes it a worthy discussion and one that can be had by us here that work on the machines we try and squeeze the best we can from them(as you so nicely put). Mind you HP has the new Z series out, these sets of printers might be well beyond the quality of the DJ 130 and the 7800, but what we have is economics that sets the balancing act. The fact that Epson is Epson doesnt make Epson better than others, but the fact that Epson was able to get the quality it achieves at the time it was available to US, makes it better NOW, but this year Canon and HP have stepped up in the area of pro level printing. I am a photographer that is interested in seeing what HP Designjet pro series means today when claiming "Pro" and claim "color PROOFing " prints. These are my concerns and I am hoping this DJ 130 that is often overlooked can produce prints in the areas I have mentioned with some massage of a profile or a addition of a RIP. This to me would mean that we have a solid printer that really can deliver....So far color proof, is the big buzz word HP has on its manual and box with proofing paper..But my sample tells me it is not an accurate color print...And here is where I have turned to to get some answers.
