Hi, I've had my Epson 1280 for about 6 years and about 6 months ago purchased the HP DJ90. I love it. I was always fairly happy with the 1280's output, but was tired of the constant clogs (becoming more frequent it seems). I wasted a alot of ink with cleaning cycles, etc. I bought the DJ90 wanting to print occassionally larger prints too. With the Epson I almost printed exclusively with HW Matte, with the HP I'm using the Premium plus satin - the prints in my opinion are equal or slightly better than the Epson. I have not printed on matte though. I've left the printer unused for over a month, and printed a perfect print with no cleaning or problems. Very stingy on ink as well. The profiles that come with HP for their papers are pretty good, and you can profile them using their utility. I've used their profiles for the Ilford Classic Pearl paper as well. Hope this helps.
