I use the Somerset Velvet on the DJ130 all the time with great results. Of course, I also created a custom profile for it.
It sounds like whatever setting you are using is laying down too much ink. I believe I use Heavy Weight Coated. You can also try the slider under Advanced options to lay down a little less ink.
