Hi scotto,

I have had a similar quest with a DJ30, the smaller sibling of the
DJ130. Among the reasons for getting this printer were the excellent
dMax and the claim by some reviewers that it was good for monochrome images.

Even with calibration and careful profiling I have never been able to
get a completely neutral greyscale ramp without crossovers; and
illuminant metamerism has been a significant additional issue.

I have tried toning, mainly with Lightroom 2; but the toning is either
too strong for me, or it does not completely mask the underlying
problem. I have also used the ImagePrint RIP; but apart from the
clunkiness of this program, I have never achieved the neutrality I seek,
nor found a really acceptable added toning.

I have concluded that the DJ30 is not ideal for BW; and, as I also want
more durable prints on matt papers,I am looking at pigment printers, and
will probably get an Epson in the near future.

Tim

PS I still have the IP Lite dongle which I am happy to part with for a
fair consideration.
