I would not mess with any profile issues as it sounds like you have either calibration or media setting problems. Hard to comprehend if the printer passes calibration and if you have done the automated profile from the color center. Head faliures, clogs, etc. are going to show up on the Z series and are really minimal compared to older Designjets or Epsons.
