Ok, the reinstall isn't helping, though I havent tried the manual source
install yet. But, I have a feeling thats not going to work either.
Thanks for all your help though, its much appreciated and its comforting to

sudo apt-get remove hplip && sudo rm -rf /usr/share/hplip

and it should take care of it.
