When I use HPlip on the paralel port, I first see this error:
"printmode mismatch with pen, tray, etc." After a short time I see:
"open print channel failed; will retry in 30 seconds..."
If you want to know it for sure, I can try it on another machine. I
expect HPlip works fine over the paralel port there.
