I don't understand what you mean with "plain printing". I did my tests with the CUPS testpage, this is not just a simple text. > Please add a footnote for "Parallel" which explains what > "Parallel Yes/No" actually means like for example: > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > "Parallel No" means that even if the device may have a parallel port, > HPLIP does not support it (in particular not for "Scan", "Photo", > "Fax", "Copy", and "Services/Status"). > Nevertheless plain printing using the HPIJS driver with the > generic "parallel" CUPS backend may work, see > http://hplip.sourceforge.net/tech_docs/hpijs.html > --------------------------------------------------------------------- It's confusing. If you want to know it for sure, I can do a test with my laserjet 2200 here. I expect it works with HPlip. I need to search for a paralel cable, not sure if I have another one. >> On 7/18/07, Paul van der Vlis <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: >>> Johannes Meixner schreef: >>>> On Jul 18 13:23 Paul van der Vlis wrote (shortened): > ... >>>>> I used the normal parallel port (no HPlip) and a "ljet4" driver. >>>>> This worked. >>>> I don't understand what you did because according to >>>> http://hplip.sourceforge.net/supported_devices/laser.html >>>> the LaserJet 2300 has no parallel port support. >>> This is wrong, the printer has a paralel port.
