So far I've read two replies to my post regarding forums and mailing list.

hours to check 15 forums 5 times a day the response time on mailing lists is
much lower than on forums!!

a) I did say that for urgent stuff and announcements we use the mailing
list. You don't have to check the forum several times a day as it should
only contain "important discussions on trends and strategies"
b) You can "monitor" the forums, that is, get a copy of the messages by
email.

I said with mailing lists: "The big issue is lack of threading: all the
children are displayed as having only one parent". This is not strictly
true, sometimes the mail client (Outlook Express 5) displays part of the
tree correctly but not all of it. So the branches are cut up at arbitrary
places and stuck to the top level message, which causes the confusion.

I agree the web form is a problem because of its limited editing capability,
but all of us can use our favourite editor to compose forum message and
paste into the web form.
