Yes, pdf_parser is deprecated, but unfortunately still there to cause
problems in the 3.1.x code.  It's gone from the 3.2 betas.  Defining an
external_parsers entry for application/pdf will override anything selected
by pdf_parser, though (and not the other way around).  The fact that
Theo is getting "PDF::parse" errors indicates very clearly that htdig
is not recognizing any such external_parsers entry for application/pdf.
