Thanks for the response Stefan.

I have read that document many times and have played around with those
values for the past few days.

The problem is that it is very tough to figure out why one document
gets a "10.87392" and another gets a "9.89764".

It would be neat if htsearch had a way to dump out its calculations. 
For example, adding a "$(TALLY)" to the result template would yield
something like:

   Title: 2 hits, 300 pts
   Header_1: 1 hit, 5 pts
   Text: 12 hits, 12 pts
   Backlinks: 2 hits ...

But, of course, I'm assuming that such a tally actually takes place. 
I'm sure the algorithms used are far more complicated, but something
must be keeping a tally of the scores.
