Any reason to make it either/or?  If you know how to make RPMS (which is what
I assume you are talking about), why not pop one together for each release?
The shrink-wrapped version is going to work for most users, and is a huge
convenience.  Those who need to tweak can use the source version.

And since we're letting one question lead to another...  would it be possible
to package the source tar with a unique root directory name?  I.e.  hugs-1.5,
or hugs-May1998.  I like tar files that "know who they are" so I can just
unpack 'em and not have to do that little dance to prevent them from
clobbering the previous version.
