I have not seen a HG with an f# tuning - mostly G (open) for the chanters. an
f# open chanter doesn't fit much into D/G tuning and holding the first key
continuously doesn't lead to efficient playing..

I have seen novel devices that act as a capo and when disengaged allows you to
lower the note temporarily, but the open always returns to G (or the base
tuning tone).

I am by no means an expert, but I have seen different numbers of keys, and the
extras are in the cases I am familiar with added at the top of the keyboard,
not necessarily at a half or whole step above the last sequential note.

some HG’s have 23 keys and some 24 keys… (mine only 19 *sigh)

on the 24 key version is the F# added on the lower row where the G was and then
the G or is the F# still left out and the extra key is an A? or something
altogether differenet?

i suspect the F# is added where the G was then the G
