I haven't gotten to read all of this thread so please excuse me if I have
repeated what someone else has said. Personally I think Gilles Chabenat,
Patrick Bouffard, Mattias Loibner, Toby Miller, Ricardo Delfino, Chris Allen
and Mike Gilpin as well as numerous others are all "Celeb" HG players. But if
you are looking for "Hollywood" names I can tell you that we have built
instruments for Bruce Springstein, Brendan O'Brien (he produces Springstein
and also Pearl Jam) Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Mike
Post (he is the composer for many tv and movie scores such as the theme for
Law and Order), Andy Summer of the Police and several others. As to how much
they play their instruments - I know that Brendan plays his and has used it on
several recordings. And of course there is the famous Curtis Berak who has
been the hurdy-gurdy player for several movie soundtracks and last but not
least Nigel Eaton who not only played for Loreena but was on the soundtrack
for Name of the Rose.
