My question here is whether it's better to have the sharping lever press the trompette down towards the soundboard, or in towards the keybox. The former would displace the string along the wheel surface, the latter would press it down tighter against the wheel. Or does this matter? On my instrument, the trompette string is about 1-1/2" from the side of the keybox. So that would be a pretty thick spacing block, wouldn't it? I suppose another option would be to mount a smaller block on the soundboard with vertical screws, then mount the sharping lever assembly on the side of that. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "hurdygurdy" group.
