[HG-new] Alden - your list, your call

I think it is only fair to realize that   1)    This is Alden's list, not ours; and 2)    It is not a democracy   So I will make the request to Alden to consider what he thinks is appropriate content.  Should he decide that this list should be open to all the different interest groups regarding HG, then I will continue the builders threads here, if not, I will continue to read and learn and input as I can on whatever topics I am able.   Should he decide that the builders threads are not appropriate to the direction and focus he wants his list to follow, then I will offer to create an entirely new list (I already own several on other topics) and maintain it for the builders.   I would only ask that should a new list be needed, that Alden consider becoming a member of that list as well.  One of the reasons for starting this discussion here rather than on MIMF or other Lutherie boards is that we have a great wealth of specific HG knowledge and insight, and Alden is up there in the top few in this community as far as the value of his gained knowledge.  In my opinion, no matter where these discussions end up, it would be a great benefit to us to have Alden (not slighting other builders here, just specifying Alden) in those discussions.  Of course, we can't ask for everything for free, and we will have to learn how to ask the right questions the right way, but you have to do that anytime you are trying to learn from a professional who makes a living from what you are trying to learn.  But having this discussion without Alden would, in my opinion, be WAY less valuable to all those hopeful students.   Of course, I want the rest of the experienced builders here to understand the same goes for them, but I specify Alden here because if there is to be another list, it does take an extra amount of effort to be part of two communities, and I want him to understand that his value is recognized.   Chris -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "hurdygurdy" group.
