scott.... i feel your pain.... i've been going through the same thing for
quite a while with my setup and here is what i came up with.
i wanted to be able to make incredible shit and be able to do gigs, parties
and make records in the studio with really intricate programming... no
sacrificing of anytthing to do anything...
i have logic 4 platinum an a midi express xt going to everything. it is way
easier for me to sequence on the computer.
record an cut in soundforge
time and try out shit in acid
move samples to sampler
sequence with logic
record sequence to sequencer (in my case an mc-505)
keep on tweaking using the sequencers special capabilities
2 saves. one on the sequencer and one on the sampler. very portable easy and
manageable without sacrificing any editing capabilities... but yet still
taking it to the portable stage.... your never gonna beat some of these
really high end sequencer apps a far as speed and features an ease of use...
the sequencers have really nice live controls that you don't get in the
point an click world.... i think it's great to use all these tools for there
specialty and then move on an on till everything is back on the sequencer
an sampler alone....
