What I did when I transferred my stuff to the RM1x was, first massage the
data in the sequencer so that each different pattern is on a channel, then
imported it into the RM. Then I cut the phrases to their lengths and
distribute them over sections as appropriate.
Phrases are also what makes it possible to mix different lengths of
material together. Wonderful!
(Although there should be an easier way to copy a whole section while
choosing which phrases that should get duplicated.)
