I think that OctaMed SoundStudio (the latest version on the amiga with
support for up to 64 channels of samples playing from the amiga), is
available as freeware.  The info screen that comes up when you load it, say
that it will be freeware after january 1998 (or possible 1999, either way
the dates gone).

try www.octamed.co.uk and see what's there.
