DSSI is based on the liblo library which is a *lightweight*
implementation of OSC. In our tests with fluidsynth, the fluidsynth-dssi
plugin showed a lack of dynamic sensitivity which for drums and
percussion is critical. Another limitation of dssi, that has been
observed by some users of rosegarden, is that it does not work with
tempo sync.

I tend to agree. Hydrogen works nicely when used as a softsynth by
rosegarden.
