Finally a nice day today. Got the airplane out to take some aerial photos
of a DOT snow blower working for the local paper. To my astonishment I
found 7 Gray Partridge sitting along a taxiway at the Boone airport. I
was even more suprised when I came back 2 hours later and they were still
there!! I had to taxi by them and turn around so I could open my window
to photograph them. It appeared that they were more interested in
nourishment than being afraid of the airplane. I flew over "Beamers" pond
also and as Steve Dinsmore posted there are quite a number of Trumpeter
Swans there yet today. Interestingly enough was that at 3,500 feet the
temp was right at 40 degrees and back on the ground the temp was 20
degrees!
