Hi all, A bit of a changeover at Cone Marsh (Louisa County) between today and last Wednesday, esp. in the geese numbers. Very few geese left except Canadas. There were a few Snow and Greater White-fronteds remaining. I couldn't pick out any Cacklings but the wind was really shaking my scope so I might have missed them!
Divers still outnumber dabblers among the ducks present, but more dabblers were moving in. New at the marsh (for me) were Northern Pintail and Green-winged Teal. Didn't find many passerines at all today in the cold and wind. Rusty Blackbirds continue along Atwood north of the marsh, and the Northern Mockingbird (in yard of house at SW corner of marsh) was still present. Didn't find any new arrivals. One Trumpeter Swan was present at NW corner of the marsh. 18 waterfowl species seen in all.
