Ducks and geese were few and far between yesterday. It was very quiet on
the lakes. I saw six species of duck but only a few of each; most were
Mallards that were seen. Yesterday's interesting birds were a pair of
Northern Harriers in Hancock County and a flock of at least 100 Brewer's
Blackbirds with one Red-winged Blackbird in with them. In Kossuth County I
saw a Merlin, a dozen Snow Buntings and a leucistic Bald Eagle (probably not
an adult) at Union Slough.
