As long as you have any datasets catalogued in the master catalog starting
with your alias, you will get a message saying that the alias can't be
catalogued.  I know I have had this problem in the past.  You also have to
check any usercatalogs, and make sure there are no datasets starting with
your userid.  Use a LISTCAT Idcams command to list each catalog.
