We recently added a 4th LPAR to our existing 3-LPARs basic sysplex. I had the same concerns as Dave's, but after more than one month I can say GRS ring (exploiting XCF) is not a problem. I use RMF PM to keep on eye on XCF delays, and the average delay GRS shows is around 4 %. Which is acceptable to me. We have still a 2086-230, z/OS 1.7 everywhere except z/OS 1.9 on the sandbox LPAR.
