I enrolled and then tried to join. They wanted me to jump through too many
hoops, so I blew it off.

IBM, like all other really big vendors, will obtain at least one of every
competitor's products in order to reverse-engineer everything proprietary in
that product. This might be an elephant in the room, however, so I'd better
not say too much more.

Subject: NEON zPrime webinar

Just hung up on the NEON zPrime webinar. Yawn. It was a carefully scripted
dog and pony show, with no spontaneous questions, and no meat on the bones.
They brought in a lawyer and a code forensics expert to explain how zPrime
did not infringe, but lacking the details of the exact zPrime mechanism(s),
I found the webinar less than convincing. Sooner or later, if enough
revenue is put in jeopardy, there will be a lawsuit(s), either from IBM or
an OEM software vendor.

The one thing I did find interesting is that IBM Global Services is
apparently a zPrime customer (ROTFLMFAO).

Tom Conley
