We tried email for report distribution once upon a time. We ran into constant problems with vacations, full mailboxes, changed email addresses, broken servers, spam filters, and just plain human error (it was in their inbox but they just didn't see it).
And that was years ago before the spam/malware filters had to get far more aggressive. We were looking at having to staff full time positions to do nothing but deal with email issues. -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Rob Schramm Sent: Monday, January 25, 2010 8:17 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Receive e-mails on z/OS I don't really see why e-mail isn't ideal... e-mail gets used for work-flow.. just another way to get things done. Sure, it would be nice for everyone to only use the things we have "ready to go".. but if that were the case.. we'd still all be using coax cables, green screen tubes and manual typewriters. But soooo many things get done in an organic fashion.. why not e-mail?
