In some of those cases, IBM offers extended support (called "Lifecycle Extension") to run the older z/OS release on the newer hardware, with support. In those cases (as noted in the table), the Lifecycle Extension is required to obtain the necessary toleration PTFs. z/OS.e 1.8 on the z10 BC is listed as "Yes," with no special Lifecycle Extension note.
