Interesting idea. Not sure if I agree if it works out most of the time or not. I was at one place and we had one of the sysprogs did telecommuting. The person would show up once a month or so. It was not clear to me what she did. I think she installed one package .. some ISPF application IIRC .

I think that some types of sysprog duties have to be hands on. Not all mind you but some. I have wondered about the perceived benefits myself. The case above the person worked out of their house in Chicago area. So the once a month (or so) appearance wasn't a big thing but when it comes to say Washington dc/metro area to texas its a whole different story, IMO.
