The phone lines don't stop at the border!  If companies routinely
allowed telecommuting for sysprogs, I could as easily be working for a
concern in New Delhi, or La Paz, or Johannesburg.  Of course, people
living in those cities could be bumming code for US concerns as well.

Upshot: if you're a relatively high-paid US systems programmer,
telecommuting is a two-edged sword.  IOW, be careful what you wish for.
