And I could write a program that invokes 4 others and do it in one
step. I think we can all agree that there are things that MVS could
do better. I could also write a clist (or a rexx) that would do
everything in one invocation.
I am pretty sure that there are things that MVS can do better than
UNIX (or else we wouldn't be having this discussion).
Yes some of which cost $$ (like the tso utilities). I am not sure in
UNIX if there are similar items that cost $$ or not. I am sure the
open source people will speak up on that. Remember though UNIX was
more or less designed by university types. They built a lot of stuff
into UNIX that MVS doesn't have or must pay $$ for . TSO was at one
time an option now its pretty mandatory. Things change. Like it or
not TSO is pretty much dead (or close to) is USS the wave of the
future? I hope not as it would be a tragic loss.
